How the role will make an impact:
We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable HR Advisor to join our dynamic HR team. In this role, you will act as a key point of contact for HR-related queries, providing expert advice and support to managers and employees across the business. You will play a vital part in contributing to ER initiatives that support our people strategy and organisational goals.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Serve as a primary point of contact for managers and employees regarding HR-related queries and concerns.
* Advise on and manage employee relations cases from start to finish, including disciplinary procedures, grievance cases, performance management and absence management, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes.
* Coach managers to build capability, encouraging them to think through issues and giving them confidence and knowledge to handle difficult and sensitive matters whilst ensuring they fully understand the risks and implications.
* Support the HR Business Partner and wider HR team in delivering People Strategy projects, including employee engagement, wellbeing initiatives, change management activities and learning and development support.
* Focus on continuous improvement by using HR data and metrics to monitor and report on trends that inform strategic HR planning.
* Support the implementation and consistent application of HR policies and procedures.
* Support the employee life cycle by assisting with onboarding, induction, probation and other HR processes as needed.
* Ensure the HRIS system is accurately maintained and up to date, managing employee records in compliance with GDPR and data protection standards.
* Prepare HR reports and analytics to inform decision-making.
* Assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant data (absences, leavers, overtime).
* Keep up to date with employment legislation and HR best practice, recommending updates to policies and procedures as needed.
* Travel is required within the role once a month at our Carlisle site.
Key Skills:
* CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) or equivalent HR qualification.
* Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.
* Experience managing employee relations casework independently.
* Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
* Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, and experienced with HRIS systems.
