The Role
Deal Advisory Tax provides market leading services to both Corporate and Financial investors. We have teams focused on clients in four key markets: Corporates; Private Equity & Credit; Real Estate; and Energy & Infrastructure. We are a national, connected team, working and learning together.
* Corporates: We work with FTSE 100 and 250 companies and other UK corporates, supporting strategic acquisitions, carve outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures both in the UK and cross-border. Our clients span sectors including Consumer, Life Sciences, TMT, Industrials, ENR, and Banking & Insurance.
* Asset Management: We serve Private Equity, Infrastructure, Renewable/Energy transition, and Real Estate Funds, as well as institutional investors like Sovereign Wealth Funds and Pension Funds. Our clients have UK, European, and Global strategies, often with teams across multiple asset classes, providing diverse transaction experiences.
The Deal Advisory Tax team offers services across the entire deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, working with various clients and deal types.
We assist clients in understanding and quantifying historical tax issues, structuring transactions, modeling tax considerations, and reflecting advice in legal documents, all with a focus on maximizing value throughout the investment cycle. Our work often involves multiple countries, taxes, and work streams, collaborating across the KPMG network.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with Partners and/or Directors on complex transactions to deliver high-quality advice.
* Support in pursuing new opportunities, including proposals and pitches.
* Develop and maintain client relationships within Deal Advisory.
* Serve as a key KPMG contact for clients, legal advisors, and other teams to ensure effective delivery.
* Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning.
* Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues.
* Analyze tax-related documents/data, highlighting key issues and their commercial impact.
* Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input.
* Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments.
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
* Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership.
The Person
* Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, and interested in transactional work
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax/accounting matters
* Analytical, curious, and commercially minded
* Excellent project management skills, team-oriented, proactive
