Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist in a multi-disciplinary team that warmly welcomes psychological ideas and practices. We are seeking to appoint a band 8A to work in the Salford Division Prescott House Community Mental Health Team.
We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist with enthusiasm and an appreciation of the challenges and rewards of working within a culturally diverse service venturing towards community transformation where MDT working will have a recovery focus. Supporting the inclusion of the 6 core therapeutic modalities.

In line with the aims of the Community Transformation Project, the post holder will be trained and accredited (where accreditation is available) in one of the following modalities: CBT-psychosis and bipolar, Behavioural Family Interventions, Structured Clinical Management, Mentalisation Based Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, EMDR. If not currently trained and accredited, the post holder will be willing to complete training and work towards accreditation (where available) in one of these approaches. Training within Cognitive Analytical Therapy, and/or CBT for psychosis and bipolar, and/or EMDR will be particularly valued. As the community transformation project develops, the post holder will be expected, when possible and appropriate, to contribute to the provision of psychological interventions via a specialist hub (i.e a collaborative specialist team approach).


Main duties of the job

With a significant focus upon multi-disciplinary team working, the post will require a strong contribution to MDT meetings to support CMHT clinicians in decision making and care planning. The post holder will be expected to provide appropriate supervision and consultation to members of the CMHT to support the development of psychological expertise within the team. There is also the opportunity to provide assessments and psychological interventions for service users who present with complex mental health needs. Participation in audit, research, service development initiatives and teaching and training will be encouraged and supported. There will be an expectation that you will support the provision of psychological interventions as part of the virtual psychology hub, which may mean some citywide working.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide a high quality clinical psychology service to clients of the Prescott House CMHT. The post holder will be an active member of the CMHT and will liaise across all sectors of care, providing highly specialist, psychological assessment and therapy for clients with complex psychological needs, offering advice and consultation on client’s psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, as well as to other non-professional carers and workers of other agencies where appropriate. Consultation and Liaison

* Evidence of clinical consultations for clinicians, including therapists in training, when difficult and challenging issues of assessment, treatment and risk management arise.
* evidence of MDT working


Service development and Qaulity Improvement

* Evidence of maintaining high standards of clinical and professional practice by undergoing continuous professional development in accordance with the requirements of the relevant professional body. This will include undertaking clinical supervision as necessary and in agreement with the Service Manager.
* evidence of involvement in QI projects


Qualifications

* Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent
* NMC, HCPC
* Post Qualification Training in a therapeutic modality
* Supervision Qualification


Experience

* Experience of working with service users with severe mental health difficulties
* Experience of using a cognitive approach
* Experience of using a cognitive Behaviour Framework
* Experiencing of providing clinical supervision
* Good understanding of risk / assessment
* Experience of working in the NHS
* Experience of working with people with complex presentations and high rates of co-morbidity
* Demonstrates experience of working with people to formulate crisis
* Demonstrates a knowledge of working with those presenting with Complex emotional and relational needs
* Experience of MDT working
* Experience of working in a CMHT
