Job Description Summary:
The Assistant Dean, Residential Graduate Business Programs represents a unique opportunity to serve in an operational leadership role with a vibrant top-tier business school at one of the nation's most historic "public ivy" universities. The Assistant Dean the leads the Residential Graduate Business Programs Team of the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at William & Mary, and manages the School's residential full-time, part-time, military, and executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs, its residential Master of Accounting (MAcc) program, and its residential Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program.
Reporting to, and working closely with, the Associate Dean, Residential Graduate Business Programs, the Assistant Dean collaborates closely with faculty and other student support areas to schedule and deliver outstanding student experiences. The Assistant Dean also provides financial management, delivers high-quality academic and student success services, and nurtures external engagement.

The Mason School of Business at William & Mary seeks applications for the Assistant Dean, Residential Graduate Business Programs. This role represents a unique opportunity to serve in an operational leadership role with a vibrant top-tier business school at one of the nation's most historic "public ivy" universities.
The Assistant Dean leads the Residential Graduate Business Programs team and manages the School's residential full-time, part-time, military, and executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs, its residential Master of Accounting (MAcc) program, and its residential Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program.
Reporting to, and working closely with, the Associate Dean, Residential Graduate Business Programs, the Assistant Dean collaborates closely with faculty and other student support areas to schedule and deliver outstanding student experiences. The Assistant Dean also provides financial management, delivers high-quality academic and student success services, and nurtures external engagement.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Leads the Residential Graduate Business Programs Team in planning, coordinating, and delivering all aspects of student life, student support, and student services.
* Managing academic planning and advising and providing student support using high-quality and efficient communication strategies.
* Leading the School's commencement planning as well as honor society induction ceremonies and other transition events.
* Overseeing the allocation and training of graduate assistants for faculty members with the Graduate Assistant program.
* Serving as the liaison to Admissions, Career Services, Advancement, and other programs and offices.

* Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
* Successful experience in academic administration, preferably related to graduate business education.
* Strong leadership and management skills, with a proven track record of success in program development and implementation.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
* Experience managing academic related projects.
* Experience with a web-based learning management system such as Blackboard.
* Use of customer relationship management platforms for student related functions such as Salesforce.
* Experience utilizing student information management systems such as Banner.
* Extensive work with data collection and management tools such as QLIK and Qualtrics.
* Proficiency with all Microsoft Suite software.
* Experience with website content management systems such as Cascade.
* Willingness to assist Admissions and Alumni/Development at events and gatherings.
* Significant experience in advising and counseling graduate students.

Conditions of Employment:
This position may require additional hours beyond the typical 40 hour work week, to include occasional evening, night and weekend work, and/or overnight travel, as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.
This position is student-facing and therefore only eligible for remote work during times of the year that academic demands are at the lowest. Remote work scheduling will be determined by the administration of the Mason School of Business.

Annual Salary:

30% Program Management:
* Lead in a constructive, respectful, other-centric manner that generates a positive culture and serves our students, faculty, and key stakeholders in an outstanding manner.
* Meet frequently with Residential Graduate Business Programs Team members to make sure integration across programs is taking place. Work to achieve a world class team, operations, and deliverables.
* Establish academic calendars in collaboration with Academic Administration.
* Develop/lead student transition events such as bootcamps, orientation, and graduation.
* Work closely with the Vice Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs to plan for instructional course offerings, scheduling, and staffing. Actively look for opportunities to share courses across programs.
* Meet regularly with faculty program directors and instructional faculty to maintain a smooth delivery of classes and to identify student or program concerns.
* Work closely with faculty to manage signature events for credit-bearing courses (e.g., CAMs, Global Immersions, Sprints, Treks).
* Provide advising for the Major General James Wright (MGJW) cohort including registration, Captains Course transfer, planning signature events such as orientation and graduation ceremonies.
* Conduct regular assessments of program outcomes and student learning to ensure quality and deliver continuous improvement.
* Develop and foster strong working relationships with counterparts within the business school.
* Promote and implement opportunities for collaboration.
* Continuously work to identify, promote, and implement opportunities for collaboration, savings, and synergies on all levels regarding the residential graduate business programs.
30% Student Success Services:
* Develop and implement comprehensive student support services aimed at enhancing the academic success, personal development, and career readiness of graduate business students.
* Meet regularly with students to stay abreast of any issues, opportunities, or concerns.
* Oversee academic advising processes for residential graduate business students.
* Develop a strategy to support underrepresented groups for success in our graduate programs.
* Provide leadership and support for student organizations and student engagement activities.
* Enhance the sense of belonging for all students to make the School a welcoming place for all.
* Demonstrate commitment to inclusive excellence.
15% Academic Services
* Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulations governing graduate business programs (SCHEV, MCSB).
* Evaluate, manage, and continually improve the academic policies and student service activities for the residential graduate business programs.
* Provide guidance on policy application and special cases, monitor retention, matriculations, and graduation concerns.
* Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to implement their curriculum revisions in order to meet student needs.
10% - Financial Management
* Develops detailed budgets for the residential graduate business programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and priorities.
* Identify opportunities for cost savings and monitor spending for academic and student services for the residential graduate programs.
* Authorize travel and expenditures for student service activities.
* Ensure expenditures do not exceed budgets.
10% External Engagement
* Enhance the visibility and engagement about the residential graduate programs externally via our website and assist marketing and admissions in providing program details for their ad campaigns and communications.
* Represent the graduate business programs at external events, conferences, and meetings.
* Work with Dean's advancement teams to support efforts to communicate program information to our boards to fund program activities and scholarships for graduates.
* Develop strategies to establish, cultivate, and nurture relationships with alumni, corporate, and university partners.
* Foster strong working relationships with departments across campus.
5% Performance Management
* Communicate clear expectations to staff about goals and objectives of the department.
* Meet with staff regularly. Provide staff with constructive feedback, including interim evaluations. Address and document performance issues as they occur.
* Ensure staff have the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish goals.
* Meet requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system and complete evaluations by established deadlines with proper documentation.
* Communicate and review safety issues to assure a safe and healthy workplace.
