The Role
We’re looking for a Domestic Assistant to join our Sodexo team at Colchester Hospital. In this vital role, you’ll help ensure patients receive care in an environment that is clean, safe, and welcoming. Your work will directly reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections and contribute to patient wellbeing every single day.
What you’ll do
* Ensure a high-quality domestic service is delivered in an efficient and effective manner
* Maintain effective and meaningful communication with Sodexo colleagues, ward managers, matrons and service users
* Monitor the standard of domestic service within a designated area to the 2023 National Specification for Cleanliness and take remedial action within the target time
* Control the receipt and issue of cleaning materials, consumables and equipment, minimising waste and identifying and managing excess usage
* Ensure domestic cleaning cloths are readily available for all service times
* Cloths are kept clean to a high standard using the correct cleaning equipment and chemical products
* Report faults with equipment in a timely manner to a manager or facilities coordinator
* Ensure the domestic team complies with Trust and Sodexo policy and delivery of patient promises
* Build and maintain relationships with employees and service users
* Promote ZERO Harm and lead by example; ensure all incidents are fully investigated and recorded on SALUS
The duties of this post are not exhaustive and may be reviewed and amended as necessary in accordance with a changing environment.
* Communicate in a polite, clear and timely manner with customers
* Demonstrate a caring, compassionate and positive attitude to patients, staff and visitors at all times
* Work as a team with Sodexo managers, supervisors, client employees and colleagues
* Listen, empathise and answer queries raised by patients, visitors and employees
* Dress in the correct uniform, including name badges, and always appear professional
* Display professional conduct and protect patient privacy and dignity
