Do you have experience of working with adult social care, neighbourhoods and housing data? If so, an exceptional opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic, aspiring Senior Analyst to work within the Policy and Insight service.
The position will allow you to build on your data extraction and analytical skills within a team of experienced analysts. It’s also a chance for you to support Derby City Council’s decision-making process with meaningful, clear analysis of performance and activity data relating to adult social care, neighbourhoods and housing.
You will be responsible for providing insights into service provision, completing statutory returns and extracting and transforming data for use in reports and dashboards.
This post provides an excellent career opportunity for anyone who can demonstrate attention to detail, meet challenging deadlines and has experience of using business intelligence tools and techniques (SSMS and Power BI or equivalent) to analyse complex data sets and present information at different levels.

The Opportunity
In the role of Senior Analyst, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
Providing clear, accessible insights into a range of services within adult social care, neighbourhoods and housing.
• Working with managers at all levels to promote an understanding of data and how this relates to the services they provide.
• Helping improve service delivery by providing insight for senior managers of the Council.
• Completing statutory returns including Client Level Data returns, Deprivation of Liberty, Safeguarding and housing returns.
• Providing reports to improve data quality
• Extracting data from systems using Sequel Server Management Studio and Power BI.
• Providing reports and dashboards using Power BI.
• Supporting projects and programmes with meaningful insights using adult social care, neighbourhoods and housing data.
• Deputising for the Business Insight & Improvement Manager as appropriate.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have…
• Proven experience working within a management information/performance information environment, ideally within local government.
• Experience of preparing performance and management information reports for managers at all levels.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify, quality assure and interpret complex data.
• Proven experience of extracting data from a variety of databases.
• Experience of creating reports and dashboards using Power BI or equivalent.
