Overview
Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer role at Curtiss-Wright Corporation. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Letchworth team. You will design and analyze moderately complex electro-mechanical systems through the product life cycle, conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs, and direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Location: Letchworth, UK.
Responsibilities
* Using Solidworks 3D CAD for electro-mechanical packaging.
* Configuration/ERP management using Solidworks PDM and Syteline.
* Designing to meet MIL-STD-810 and DO-160 qualification standards.
* Product life cycle development from concept design through obsolescence management.
* Liaising with internal/external stakeholders (Production, QA, Suppliers).
* Technical support to failure investigations and creating formal reports.
* Providing clear guidance to the engineering team and ensuring that design solution processes are airworthy.
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
* At least 5 years’ experience in electro-mechanical design within an aerospace/automotive/medical/safety-critical environment.
* Demonstrated high performance and achievement in full product development life cycle (including system design, development, integration, test, verification).
* Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high quality solutions.
* Familiar with designing for rugged systems housing PCBs, subjected to environmental/EMC testing.
* Familiar with design for manufacture principles (Machining, Sheet Metal, FDM printing).
* Experience in Finite Element Analysis or Computational Fluid Dynamics is desirable but not essential.
