How will you make a difference?
We are seeking an experienced Field Service Operations Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing our Field Service and Operational teams to deliver a high-quality service to our customers. The Field Service Operations Manager will work closely with other departments to ensure that customer requirements are met and that services are delivered on time and to the required standards.
What will your typical day look like?
* Assist in the development and delivery of the Business Strategy to ensure a customer centric and tightly cost-controlled/profit-making environment for further business growth.
* Maintain and develop customer relationships.
* Ensure the Warranty Controller and Field Service Administrators are fully informed and supported to deliver their purposes to the business.
* Deliver products and services to customers with the Safety of the Railway (SoTR) at the forefront of thoughts and actions.
* Develop a proactive health and safety culture throughout the business.
* Ensure all departmental employees are informed, trained, and competent to undertake their roles.
* Manage and drive the safety improvement processes across Field Service sites and Wabtec locations.
* Ensure all quality expectations of the customer are fully understood and met.
* Ensure operational plans are developed, implemented, and meet customer schedules.
* Consistently meet and maintain OTD targets ensuring a class-leading standard of customer delivery.
* Constantly review progress against schedules to provide early and good communications to the customers (internal and external).
* Provide warranty and after sales support of business products and services.
* Ensure the forward manpower planning reflects the needs of our customers, both revenues generating business and contractual warranty commitments efficiently.
* Full cost centre accountability, including budget creation, regular forecast management, and actual results analysis.
* Seek productivity improvements within the department to eliminate waste.
What do we want to know about you?
* Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering ONC, or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
* Extensive technical knowledge regarding fault finding on rail vehicles and equipment.
* Experience in leading and coordinating teams across multiple locations and projects.
* Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation and experience in leading safety improvement initiatives.
* Experience in Performance Management and Employee Engagement principles and processes, including, appraisals, identifying training and development needs, motivational techniques, coaching, and employee communication.
* Sound IT skills (particularly MS Excel and Laptop/Tablet computers)
* Ability to compile technical reports and customer progress reports.
* Ability to efficiently organise team workload and analyse KPI output for improvement actions.
