The Role
To work as part of the Driver Training Teams across Surrey & Sussex within the Learning and Professional Development department. You will be expected to deliver a wide range of driving courses from various locations around the county to all employees and volunteers associated with the Forces. You will be involved in the development of all courses in line with the Roads Policing and Police Driving Programme Specifications and Force Policy. Commitment to the Driver Training role is imperative due to on-going long term development over several years.
Key Responsibilities
• To work as part of the L&PD team to produce, maintain and upgrade training products that meet both national and Force criteria
• Delivery of all training as required by L&PD including exciting opportunities to deliver courses for Income Generation
• To design and develop courses in line with the Roads Policing and Police Driver Learning Programme
• To complete training packages with rationale, aims and objectives and supporting materials to the standards required by L&PD
• To prepare written or online reports on students’ progress and to take an active role in providing and receiving constructive feedback to and from training colleagues and students
• Prepare vehicles, equipment and documentation before and after each course
• To keep yourself up to date with changing practice in Driver Training
• To undertake such other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may reasonably be required, including the specific duties of similar or lesser graded posts.
Skills & Experience
It is essential that you hold -
• A current and clean UK driving licence with category B (manual gearbox) for more than 12 months prior to application
• A current College of Police compliant response driving accreditation at Standard or Advanced level issued within the last 5 years
• A current College of Police compliant pursuit management accreditation at Initial Phase and HOSTYDS accreditation issued within the last 5 years
It is desirable that you hold or are prepared to work towards –
• A recognised assessor qualification
• College of Policing Training Essential Programme qualification or A recognised Adult Trainer Qualification to Level 4 or above
• A National Police Driving Instructor Qualification
• A recognised Advanced driving accreditation (if not already held)
• A recognised Tactical pursuit accreditation (if not already held)
• A current and clean UK driving licence with category A
• A current and clean UK driving licence with category D or D1
• A current and clean UK driving licence with category C or C1
