Howden - Corporate & Commercial are seeking a Senior Account Handler (Underwriter) within our successful Commercial Schemes division to support our Rural Team to deliver a first-class service to our clients. This role involves contributing to and delivering against a defined strategy focused on rural/farming clients. Ideal candidates will have experience handling High Net Worth or Commercial insurance products, Delegated Authorities, and/or Rural clients, with relevant knowledge.
Please note this is a full-time, permanent role. You will be based in our Bedford office, ideally onsite 2 days per week, with occasional client visits in the local area.
Responsibilities include:
* Achieving client retention targets by providing excellent service.
* Liaising with the Account Executive for renewal strategies, attending client meetings, and following up on action points.
* Conducting market exercises to establish competitive terms.
* Obtaining and presenting renewal quotes to clients.
* Issuing renewal documentation in line with contract certainty.
* Processing adjustments, notifying insurers, issuing revised documentation, and collecting premiums.
* Producing professional summaries and reports.
* Ensuring premiums are collected before coverage begins.
* Recording all relevant information in Acturis and managing diaries effectively.
Success factors:
* At least 2 years’ experience as an underwriter or account handler with HNW or commercial products.
* Experience with Delegated Authority or Rural clients is preferred.
* Knowledge of Acturis is advantageous but not essential.
* Attention to detail, efficiency, and accuracy.
* Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
* Strong client service, negotiation, and communication skills.
* Ability to assess client needs and communicate appropriately.
Qualifications:
* 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent).
