Reporting directly to the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Team, and indirectly to the CDM Manager and Cardiovascular Lead, the Stroke Rehabilitation Therapist is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and coordination of stroke programs and services at the assigned site. The therapist mentors staff, responds to clinical questions, and coordinates ongoing skill development to deliver effective stroke services based on evidence and population needs. The role involves planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of programs, leading interdisciplinary teams, and participating in quality improvement initiatives, program development, and knowledge translation. The therapist collaborates with discipline-specific Professional Practice Leads (PPLs), consults on complex cases, and may provide clinical services.
Description:
As a Physiotherapist II, you will coordinate physiotherapy and allied health services, supervise students and team members, and work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. You will make clinical decisions regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up, and provide leadership to ensure safe, effective client care. You will ensure practice is evidence-based and compliant with relevant standards and regulations. You will coordinate daily operations, monitor care delivery, assist with caseload management, conduct chart audits, and participate in program development and operational planning. You will collaborate with managers and healthcare providers to determine staffing and workflow needs. AHS supports physiotherapists by providing access to experienced clinicians across the province and integrating with the Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) for real-time information sharing.
Your Opportunity:
This role involves leadership in stroke program coordination, clinical mentorship, program evaluation, and participating in zone and provincial initiatives. Collaboration with PPLs and consultation on complex cases are key responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university or a Bachelor's degree with relevant experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in stroke rehabilitation is an asset. Evidence of ongoing professional and personal development.
