Job Overview
We are looking for a professionally qualified Youth Work practitioner (JNC Recognised). Or a candidate who is willing and has the commitment to undertake a 3-year distance learning course at Level 6 (via the apprenticeship levy fund) while being able to deliver to the role specification.
Training & Support
The Youth Service will provide one day a week to support the training above; all other requirements (e.g., assignments) will be undertaken in your own time.
Responsibilities
* Manage centre‑based youth work or similar and lead a team of youth workers, tutors, and volunteers.
* Develop, deliver and evaluate specific strategies, curriculum and programmes to ensure high quality youth work practice with vulnerable young people (aged 11‑19, up to 25 with learning difficulties).
* Manage health & safety, fire safety and risk management processes, including key building responsibilities in the Youth Centre.
* Partner and liaise with community groups and multi‑agency teams to increase opportunities and offers for young people.
* Be creative and proactive in applying for grant/funding opportunities and managing the Youth Centre’s resources and budget.
* Work in a range of settings including the Youth Centre, schools and outreach.
* Maintain a flexible timetable during the day, after school and evening sessions in line with JNC terms & conditions.
Qualifications
* Professionally qualified Youth Work practitioner (JNC Recognised) or a commitment to undertake a Level 6 distance learning course.
* Proven experience of managing a centre‑based youth work environment and a team.
* Right to work in the UK and ability to provide evidence at interview.
* Command of spoken English sufficient to perform the role (Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016).
* Undergoing an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
