Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Belfast, GB – Permanent, onsite at our Belfast headquarters.
Overview
At Oxford Instruments Andor we are devoted to accelerating the greatest scientific advancements of our age by producing high‑precision imaging & analysis products for scientific research and industry.
Responsibilities
* Mechanical design and detailing of high‑precision new parts, sub‑assemblies and customer solutions for our Imaging & Analysis products.
* Design of precise, tight tolerance mechanisms; tolerance analysis; design for long‑term stability (vibration, thermal effects).
* Design for regulatory approval (EMC, MD, Safety, LVD) and DfX implementation.
* Prototype build and assessment.
* Document designs with detailed assembly instructions, including revision control of drawings and documents.
* Develop budgets and cost estimates.
Qualifications
* BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline) or equivalent; iMechE / IEng accreditation preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years experience in product development.
* Demonstrable experience in mechanical design, tolerance analysis, regulatory design, DfX, prototyping, documentation, and budgeting.
