The Role
We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to join our Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) administrative team. You will provide a high‑quality secretarial and administrative service to support our clinicians in delivering efficient patient care across acute and outpatient settings.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
* Royal Alexandra Hospital
* Permanent Contract
* Part‑time position (18.5 hours per week)
* Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, hours can be discussed with the successful candidate as long as each day has some cover, e.g. 08:30‑12:15 Monday‑Friday each week
Key Responsibilities
* Administrative Support: Manage clinical correspondence, including the transcription of medical dictations and digital audio typing.
* Patient Coordination: Act as the first point of contact for patients and staff, managing telephone enquiries and coordinating clinic appointments and waiting lists.
* Systems Management: Use NHS systems such as TrakCare, PECOS and SSTS to maintain accurate patient records and manage departmental resources.
* Communication: Liaison with multidisciplinary teams, external agencies and relatives with a high degree of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
* HNC/SVQ III in Secretarial Studies/Business Administration or equivalent practical experience.
* Advanced keyboard skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
* Proficiency in medical terminology is essential; prior experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
* Ability to work independently, prioritise a heavy workload under pressure and maintain a flexible approach to service demands.
