In Haringey we believe in growing and nurturing our Newly Qualified Social Workers, by providing a programme of tailored support to ensure that you feel confident in your practice and well cared for within the organisation. This includes regular peer‑group learning sessions, supervision and guidance from your team‑based assessor and mentor; a varied and interesting caseload; regular feedback on your practice and access to a range of resources and training via our Haringey Children’s Academy.
Haringey are proud of our focus on evidence‑based research in practice and have a range of tools available for practitioners.
Supportive Environment
Our ASYE programme offers comprehensive support, including regular supervision, mentoring, and tailored training to help you grow and succeed in your role.

We are at the forefront of implementing innovative practices that make a real difference in the lives of children and families. Join us and be part of a team that values creativity and forward‑thinking solutions.
Career Development
Haringey is committed to your professional growth. We offer secondment opportunities in the 2nd year across various services, and this plays a crucial role in our Post‑ASYE career development pathway, enabling you to broaden your experience and advance your career to achieve your professional goals. In year 3, 4 and 5 we also provide development opportunities as Practice Educators for experienced staff.
Positive Work Culture
Our team is known for its collaborative and inclusive culture. You’ll be working alongside experienced professionals who are passionate about making a positive impact in the community.
About You
We are looking for a Newly Qualified Social Worker who is passionate about working collaboratively with families and young people in a relational and empathetic way. You must have a commitment to direct work and advocating for children and young people and a willingness to learn and accept feedback constructively.
As an NQSW in Haringey you should be a positive communicator who can collaborate, influence and challenge with excellent verbal and written skills. You will have the opportunity to develop knowledge of the research, legislation and statutory responsibilities that underpin Children’s Social Care, and be able to work to a high standard, meet deadlines and contribute to a learning culture within your team.
You will be proactive in building on your previous learning and experience. Some experience in children’s social care would be an advantage. Most importantly we are looking for someone who has an unwavering passion for social work, the vision and drive to change outcomes for children, young people and their families, and the skills to be part of a team that inspires and supports stakeholders. Candidates must hold a relevant Social Work qualification and, in order to qualify for the ASYE programme, Social Work England registration must be in place before a start date can be provided.
Benefits
Our benefits package includes a leave entitlement of up to 31 days + bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and wellbeing support, a generous local government pension scheme and a range of discount schemes across leisure and culture that provide both financial and money‑saving discounts.
Equal Opportunity Employer
Haringey Council is committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work. We recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all ethnicities and communities so that we continue to make a difference to our residents and community.
