Hamilton Specialist Referrals is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital providing the latest in cutting-edge, specialist treatments for cats and dogs, supported by an exceptional rehabilitation and physiotherapy facility. As a Team Leader, you will guide and line manage our Medicine & Oncology Nurses & VCAs, with support from our Nurse Manager.
As part of our Medicine & Oncology team, your general duties will include:
1. Team Leadership: Leading and motivating the nursing and VCA (including laboratory technician) team, providing guidance and support.
2. Clinical Care: Providing patient care on admission, assisting with medical or oncology procedures and anesthesia, diagnostic tests, and administering chemotherapy under the direction of the oncologist.
3. Workflow and Efficiency: Working with the Workflow Coordinator to manage the team's schedule, workload, and resources, ensuring smooth operation of the department.
4. Training and Development: Supporting the professional development of team members.
5. Communication: Communicating with clients, veterinary staff, and other professionals involved in patient care.
As a key member of the nursing team, you will play a vital role in supporting the growth of our internal medicine and oncology departments, ensuring patients receive the highest level of care throughout their treatment. Your work will directly impact the well-being of patients while providing crucial support to our specialists and clients during their treatment journey.

Experience and qualifications
* Qualified RVN with RCVS registration
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work collaboratively
* Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to patient safety
* Previous experience in a referral hospital (preferred)
* Confidence in nursing complex medical and/or oncological cases (preferred)
* Comfortable leading, delegating, and organizing a team
* Leadership experience (beneficial but not essential)
Working Pattern
A full-time position involves 40 hours per week across 4 days, with a 1 in 6 weekend rota (Sat & Sun), and typically 2 bank holidays per year. Shifts are usually 9 hours and 15 minutes, between 07:30-20:00, with early or late shifts.
