About the Team:
Our R&D Technical Team is at the heart of CBTax’s mission, helping businesses unlock tax incentives for innovation. We work closely with clients across a range of industries, including engineering, technology, software development, and manufacturing, to assess their eligibility for R&D tax relief. This is a fast-paced, intellectually stimulating environment where technical expertise meets financial strategy.

About the Role:
As an Associate R&D Technical Consultant, you will work with highly innovative businesses to identify qualifying R&D activities and prepare technical reports that support tax relief claims. This role is ideal for recent graduates with a strong technical background in areas such as engineering, science and mathematics who enjoy problem-solving, technical writing, and engaging with clients on cutting-edge projects.

You’ll receive comprehensive training and mentorship, with a clear progression pathway into senior technical consultancy roles.
This role is perfect for 2025 grads with an engineering or scientific background

In this Role, You'll:

* Work closely with clients to identify qualifying R&D projects within their business.
* Analyse technical information and distil complex innovations into clear, compelling reports.
* Collaborate with tax and finance teams to prepare robust R&D tax relief claims.
* Conduct interviews and site visits with engineers, scientists, and technical leaders.
* Stay up to date with HMRC guidelines to ensure compliance in all claims.
* Continuously develop your technical and financial knowledge through training and mentorship.

We're Seeking Someone with Experience Including:

* STEM degree (Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics) or related field.
* Ability to interpret and explain technical concepts in a clear, structured manner.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong written communication skills, with attention to detail.
* Enthusiasm for innovation and emerging technologies.

Nice to have:

* Understanding of R&D tax relief or technical grant funding.
* Experience in technical writing, research, or consultancy.
* Exposure to engineering, software, or scientific development projects.
