S Collins & Son is a well-established, family-run Scottish craft butcher business with an annual turnover of approximately £3.5 million. We supply both retail and wholesale customers and pride ourselves on quality, service, and strong business values.
Following a recent restructure of our office function, we are now looking for a capable and dependable Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day running of our finance operations.
The Role
This is a hands-on role within a small, busy office. You will work closely with the Directors and support the wider business through accurate financial administration and control.
We are looking for someone organised, reliable, and comfortable taking ownership of core transactional processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Processing purchase invoices and maintaining an accurate purchase ledger
* Raising sales invoices and supporting basic credit control
* Bank and cash postings, reconciliations, and monitoring daily cash flow
* Assisting with payroll preparation and timesheet checks
* Supporting VAT returns and maintaining accurate financial records
* Filing, document control, and general finance administration
* Supporting Directors with reporting and ad-hoc finance tasks
About You
* Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
* Good working knowledge of accounting software (Sage, Xero, Dext or similar)
* Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
* Well organised and able to prioritise workload
* Comfortable working independently in a small team environment
* Experience in food production, retail, or SME business is beneficial but not essential
