Position Overview
An exciting opportunity for Band 5 mental health nurses in the NHS Forth Valley Prisons. The post will initially be based at HMP Stirling, but the holder may be required to work over any of the three prison sites.

Deliver trauma‑informed, person‑centred and safe & effective care to patients.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high‑quality care and treatment within the unique prison environment.
* Work in partnership with the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) and wider agencies.
* Be a vital part of a holistic service, contributing to the mental health care needs, outcomes and experience of a complex and vulnerable population.
* Support the development of a modern and innovative healthcare service.
* Work autonomously with a high level of clinical decision‑making.
* Participate in the multidisciplinary team and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Rotate across all sites of service delivery as required.
Requirements
* First‑level registered mental health nurse looking to develop and enhance clinical skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and make clinical decisions.
* Ambitious, committed, and supportive of staff development.
* Willingness to travel and work across different sites.
* Must be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.
Certificate of Sponsorship
Applicants who require sponsorship to work in the UK should review the eligibility criteria for the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes. NHS Forth Valley may be able to offer sponsorship for certain roles, provided the post meets the minimum salary threshold and other criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed case‑by‑case.
Working hours and pay
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata, but there will be a corresponding increase in hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
