Since our recent investment raise of £10M, growth has accelerated significantly and with a dedicated team of over 100 employees we are well poised for the future. We have recently relocated our manufacturing operations to a 40,000 sq.ft unit in Telford where an extensive package of fit-out works is currently underway.

About the role
You will report directly to our Chief Operating Officer and work closely with our Operations (food manufacturing, warehouse, logistics) & Technical Teams as well as our remote teams to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.This includes developing and implementing health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments, providing training, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Your responsibilities will include:
·Developing and Implementing Policies:
Creating and updating health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.This may involve aligning policies with organizational strategies and legal requirements.
·Risk Assessment:
Identifying potential hazards in the workplace and conducting thorough risk assessments to evaluate the likelihood and severity of harm.This also includes implementing control measures to mitigate risks and creating and rolling out Safe Systems of Work.
·Training and Education:
Providing training to employees on health and safety procedures, safe work practices (SSOW), and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
·Incident Investigation:
Investigating workplace accidents, near misses, and other health and safety incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
·Compliance:
Ensuring the organization complies with all relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
·Auditing and Monitoring:
Conducting regular inspections and audits of the workplace (at least monthly) to identify and address potential hazards and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
·Communication:
Effectively communicating health and safety information to employees, management, and other relevant stakeholders.
·Consultation:
Consulting with employees and their representatives on health and safety matters and conducting the H&S Committee meetings twice a year.
·Record Keeping:
Maintaining accurate records of all health and safety activities, including risk assessments, training records, and incident reports.
·Promoting a Positive Safety Culture:
Working to foster a positive health and safety culture within the organization, encouraging employees to prioritize safety.
About You:
·Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation:
A thorough understanding of relevant health and safety laws and regulations is essential.
·Risk Assessment and Management:
The ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective control measures.
·Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Strong communication skills are needed to effectively train, advise, and interact with employees at all levels.
·Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
The ability to investigate incidents, identify root causes, and develop solutions.
·Attention to Detail:
Meticulous attention to detail is crucial for ensuring compliance and accuracy in record-keeping and reporting.
·Organized and Systematic:
The ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
·Diplomacy and Tact:
The ability to interact with employees and management in a professional and constructive manner.
Requirements:
●Deep understanding of Health & Safety legislation
●Implementation of H&S management systems
●Experience of the manufacturing industry and ideally warehousing operations
●Working knowledge of compliance risk management (including fire safety and COSHH)
●IOSH Managing Safely
●First Aid at Work/Mental Health first aid
●NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate
●Computer Literate (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
