Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer

Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality project designs with minimal supervision, working closely with project teams to ensure technical compliance and timely delivery. The role also includes mentoring junior designers and contributing to design meetings.
Key Responsibilities

Design automatic sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.

Perform hydraulic calculations using software such as Canute, as well as manual hand calculations.

Coordinate sprinkler layouts to align with building structures and other services while considering cost implications.

Attend design coordination meetings, both onsite and online.
*
Conduct field surveys to verify design compatibility with site conditions and existing services.
*
Prepare and submit 2D drawings for approval, construction, and as-built phases.
*
Produce designs in compliance with design and BIM standards.
*
Provide mentorship and daily support to trainee designers.
*
Assist field teams with design-related installation queries and challenges.
*
Support preparation of RFIs and other project documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements
*
Strong working knowledge of fire sprinkler standards and codes (LPCB, NFPA, BSEN 9990, BSEN 9251, BSEN 12845).
*
Ability to manage workload effectively with minimal supervision.
*
LPCB Basic, Intermediate, or FHC certification (preferred).
*
Minimum 5 years’ experience within the Fire Suppression industry.
*
Proficient in design software (AutoCAD, Revit) and hydraulic calculation software (Canute FHC).
*
Competent with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
*
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.

Full UK driving licence
