Overview

Job summary: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in Neuro Imaging to join our friendly and forward-thinking team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. Applicants must hold a current GMC Licence to Practise. It is essential that candidates are either listed on the General Medical Council Specialist Register or are within six months of achieving CCT (for trainees currently in a UK training programme). Applicants who are not yet on the Specialist Register but can clearly demonstrate equivalent consultant-level experience in chest and cardiac imaging will also be considered for this post.

We are recruiting a Consultant Radiologist with expertise in Neuro imaging to join our supportive and forward-thinking Radiology team, delivering elective and emergency imaging services across Calderdale and Huddersfield. The successful candidate will provide high-quality Neuro imaging interpretation across CT and MRI, vets and reports specialist scans, offers second opinions, participates in MDTs, and works flexibly across sites while maintaining competence in general imaging. The role includes participation in the on-call rota, contribution to departmental functions such as education, audit, and modality groups, and adherence to Trust clinical governance and health and safety standards. The post also involves teaching, supervising trainees from the Leeds-Bradford Radiology Academy, and engaging in research, audit, and service evaluation to support evidence-based practice.

Responsibilities

* The role includes active involvement in MDTs, cross-specialty collaboration, and opportunities to contribute to education, audit, research, and departmental leadership roles.
* A strong commitment to clinical governance, quality assurance, peer review, and adherence to Trust safety policies is essential, as is participation in maintaining accreditation under the Quality Standard for Imaging.


Person Specification

* Experience and Achievements
o Essential: Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the Radiology specialty
o Essential: Must have experience working in Neuro Imaging
* Desirable
o Interest in general non-vascular interventional radiology to support the ongoing delivery and growth of the Trust's interventional service
o Understanding current issues within the wider NHS
o Attendance at a recognised management course
o Ability to lead others across professions
* Qualifications
o Essential: FRCR or equivalent
o Essential: Specialist Registration for Radiology or within 6 months of admission for UK trainees; all other doctors must be on the GMC specialist register to be considered for a consultant appointment
o Desirable: Relevant higher degree
* Teaching and Training
o Essential: Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff
o Desirable: Publications and familiarity with research methods; supervision training; attendance at teaching courses
