About the job
The main purpose of this role is to carry out fabrication and welding in accordance with approved engineering drawings.
Reporting to: Specialist Fabrication Supervisor
Location: Unit 9a, Thorpe Way, Banbury, OX16 4SP – Hawkins 1 or 3 and site locations
Job type: Full-time, permanent
Key Responsibilities
* Reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
* Performing fabrication and welding activities working with stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel.
* Operating all tools and machinery, including guillotines and brake press equipment, in line with the company's safe operating procedures.
* Attending client locations to assist with site installations as required.
* Working to deadlines while ensuring quality standards are met.
* Adhering to all Health and Safety standards.
* Any other duties as required by the Fabrication Supervisors and Steel Director.
Person specification
* Proven sheet metal fabrication and welding experience.
* Experience of welding stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel using both Tig and Mag welding processes.
* Comfortable reading and working from engineering drawings.
* Problem solving ability and a positive attitude to drive continual improvements forward.
* Strong communication skills, able to work well with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
* Demonstrates an attention to detail and ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.
* Flexible attitude to working hours.
* Shows initiative and maintains a positive attitude.
Advantageous but not essential
* Experience in bespoke specialised fabrication tasks/jobs.
* Experience of working to ISO 9001 and UKCA Quality Standards.
* Holds a full, clean driving licence.
