Brief Description
You’ll help keep our nation moving every day by supporting essential maintenance of the rail network. This involves outdoor work in all conditions, working safely alongside trains at high speed, and supporting team efforts to maintain safety and efficiency.
The Role
As a Track Maintenance Technician, you’ll maintain, inspect, and repair the track network, including rails, sleepers, ballast, drainage, and structures. You will work outdoors in all weather, often transporting equipment across challenging terrain. Safety, teamwork, and leadership are key, as you may lead a team and ensure safety standards are met.
Skills and Qualifications
* Leadership and team motivation skills
* Strong communication abilities
* Knowledge of inspection, faulting, maintenance, and renewal techniques
* Commitment to safety and safe working behaviours
* Problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
* Relevant qualification such as NVQ Level 1 or 2, or equivalent experience
Additional Information
* Shift work including days, nights, and weekends
* Outdoor work in all weather conditions
* Requires a driving license (category B) and within a 60-minute commute
* Pre-employment checks including drug and alcohol testing, medical, and BPSS
