The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties. As such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary to submit a Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
An opportunity has arisen for a part‑time ward clerk to join a diverse multi‑disciplinary team on the new Dove ward. The role involves working closely with the nursing team, providing effective administration support to the unit, and demonstrating the Trust’s behaviours and values.
Responsibilities
* Provide administrative support to the Inpatient Unit, including record management and day‑to‑day operations.
* Work independently, using initiative and maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
* Handle non‑routine duties without direct supervision, within broad procedural guidelines.
* Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with Service Users, relatives, colleagues, and visitors.
* Stay calm, friendly and efficient, with a professional approach under time‑pressure.
* Comply with the Trust’s Anti‑Discriminatory Statement, Employee Charter, Policies, Code of Conduct, and Equality and Diversity principles.
Qualifications
* A good standard of education to secondary level.
* Strong experience working in an office environment.
* NVQ3/RSA3 or equivalent experience.
* Good knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages.
Desirable Qualifications
* Advanced IT skills, especially Microsoft Word.
* Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
* Maintaining a filing system, both paper and computerised.
* Experience with PARIS (Patient Electronic Records).
* Advanced keyboard skills.
* Car driving licence (optional if you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

* Not eligible for sponsorship; you must have the right to work in the UK. If you hold a graduate visa, you must have at least 12 months before expiry.
* First point of reference for the Inpatient Unit.
