Play Area Maintenance Operative Location: Ilkeston Contract: Full‑time About the Role We are looking for a proactive and reliable Play Area Maintenance Operative to help keep our parks and playgrounds safe, clean and welcoming for families. This role involves routine inspections, repairs, and general upkeep of children's play equipment and surrounding areas. You'll be working outdoors year‑round and contributing directly to the safety and enjoyment of the community. Key Responsibilities Play equipment inspections - carrying out daily, weekly and monthly checks to ensure equipment is safe and compliant Repairs & maintenance - fixing or replacing damaged parts, tightening fixtures, and reporting major faults Grounds upkeep - litter picking, cleaning surfaces, maintaining soft‑fall areas and ensuring tidy surroundings Safety compliance - following all health and safety procedures and recording inspection findings accurately Team coordination - working with supervisors, contractors and other maintenance staff Customer interaction - engaging politely with members of the public when required About You Practical, hands‑on and confident using tools and basic repair techniques Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety Good communication and record‑keeping skills Experience in maintenance, groundskeeping or similar roles is an advantage Full UK driving licence preferred What We Offer Full training on equipment and safety standards Supportive team environment Stable, meaningful work improving community spaces Blue Arrow is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to helping find great work opportunities for great people.
