Senior Communication and Engagement Officer (Scotland)
Pay and Basis
This role is a Fixed Term Contract (6 Months), Full‑time (36 hours per week). The pay range is provided by The Electoral Commission; your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.
Location
Edinburgh (Hybrid – minimum 2 days in office).

About the role
We are seeking a Senior Communication and Engagement Officer to lead activity in Scotland ahead of the 2026 Scottish Parliament election. You will:
* Drive public awareness campaigns and ensure messaging resonates with Scottish audiences.
* Build partnerships with public bodies, NGOs, and community organisations to reach under‑registered and newly enfranchised groups.
* Coordinate press and media relations, responding to queries and identifying proactive opportunities.
* Support political literacy initiatives and develop learning resources tailored to Scotland.

You’ll join our Scotland team – a collaborative team committed to transparency and participation. We work across the UK to deliver impactful campaigns and engagement initiatives. In Scotland, we focus on building trust and understanding of the democratic process through strong partnerships and clear communication.
Qualifications
* Experience leading communications campaigns and media relations.
* Strong understanding of the Scottish political and media landscape.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to translate complex information into clear, compelling messages.
* Collaborative approach and creative problem‑solving under pressure.
