SEMH Learning Support Assistant - Southampton

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? Teaching Personnel is working with specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools in Southampton, and we are looking to recruit a committed Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their dedicated teams.
As an SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will support students who face social, emotional, or mental health challenges that impact their ability to access mainstream education. Your role will involve:
* Providing 1:1 and small group support
* Supporting behaviour management and emotional regulation
* Assisting with learning across the curriculum
* Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
* Working alongside teachers and SEN professionals to deliver tailored support plans
SEMH schools cater to pupils aged between 5 and 16 who require specialist support due to behavioural, emotional or mental health needs. These schools provide a nurturing and structured environment focused on personal development, academic progress, and emotional wellbeing.
* Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs (SEMH, SEN, PRU, or similar)
* Strong behaviour management skills
* Resilient, patient, and calm under pressure
* Able to build rapport with challenging pupils
* A proactive and empathetic attitude
* Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)
* £13.75 per hour, paid weekly
* Term time only, full-time hours
* Temp to perm opportunity after successful trial period
* Access to free CPD training through Teaching Personnel
* Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement
