Overview
A leading MSP partner are looking for a Microsoft Security Engineer to join them on an initial 3-6 month contract basis starting ASAP. The role is Outside IR35 and fully remote. This role focuses on delivering advanced security solutions across the Microsoft ecosystem, ensuring, governance, and compliance.
Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Security Engineer to manage and deploy end- to-end security solutions on Microsoft Azure. The candidate will be a hands-on subject matter expert in Microsoft's security ecosystem, with a strong focus on implementing, configuring, and supporting cloud security and data governance solutions within Azure, Entra, the Microsoft Defender suite, and Microsoft Purview.
Microsoft Security Engineer Key Responsibilities:
* Deploy and manage Microsoft security solutions, including Azure Firewall, NSGs, WAF, and Entra ID (Conditional Access, PIM, Private Access).
* Implement and optimize Microsoft Defender suite (Endpoint, Cloud, Office 365) and Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM, automation, custom rules).
* Configure Microsoft Purview for data governance — DLP, sensitivity labels, encryption, eDiscovery, and compliance management.
* Manage Intune policies for device security and compliance; strengthen IAM through Entra ID governance and least privilege.
* Ensure operational security via Azure Policy and resource protection; maintain clear technical and operational documentation.
Microsoft Security Engineer Core Skills & Experience:
* Microsoft Security Solutions: Azure Firewall, Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Web Application Firewall (WAF), Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud, Defender for Office 365
* Cloud Security & Compliance: Azure Security Center, Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM), security automation, incident response, and threat detection
* Identity & Access Management (IAM): Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), Identity Governance, Zero Trust implementation
* Endpoint Management: Microsoft Intune, device compliance policies, mobile device management (MDM), and endpoint protection
* Data Protection & Governance: Microsoft Purview, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), sensitivity labels, encryption, eDiscovery, records management, and GDPR/ISO 27001 compliance
* Automation & Monitoring: Sentinel playbooks, custom rule creation, security alerts, and continuous monitoring
Preferred Qualifications:
* Microsoft certifications such as AZ-500 or SC-100.
* Understanding of data protection frameworks, including GDPR and ISO 27001.
