We are looking for a talented Transport Team Leader to join our team specializing in Logistics for Cummins in Daventry, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom. This is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract with the potential to become permanent. Working hours are Monday to Friday on a weekly rotating shift: 7:00am‑3:00pm and 2:00pm‑10:00pm (plus shift allowance).
Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate daily operations across international and domestic transportation activities, ensuring timely and efficient shipment execution.
* Manage, coach, and develop a team of 16 employees, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to drive engagement and productivity.
* Oversee inbound and export shipping processes, including booking transport equipment, preparing documentation, and ensuring smooth customs clearance.
* Ensure full compliance with SOX, trade regulations, and all applicable legal and regulatory requirements in transportation operations.
* Act as the main escalation point for transportation‑related issues, resolving operational challenges quickly and effectively.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and actively participate in key meetings to align on priorities and expectations.
* Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying trends and implementing actions to improve performance.
* Identify, initiate, and lead continuous improvement projects to optimize transportation processes, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness.
100% On‑Site. Yes. Due to the operational nature and specific job duties of this role, work is required to be completed 100% in person/On‑site.
Qualifications
* Must have excellent attention to detail, quality control is critical.
* Good computer background with a solid understanding of Word and Excel.
* Previous domestic / international transportation experience.
* Good communication / collaborative approach.
* High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
* Significant work experience and in-depth knowledge obtained through specialized training and relevant experience.
