Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Manager to oversee and enhance our operational processes. The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of Harlaxton Manor Enterprise and all aspects that fall under it. This includes events, catering, custom programs, the bistro, the boutique, and any other HME related activity. This role combines operational leadership, staff management, and financial oversight with a strong focus on sales growth and commercial performance.
The successful candidate will ensure all events are delivered to a high standard, enhance the reputation of the college's enterprise operations, and contribute to achieving revenue and profitability targets.
Duties
* Drive the events team to increase bookings and revenue growth to meet or exceed targets.
* Develop and implement marketing and sales strategies to increase the number and size of events via the events team.
* Identify opportunities to upsell services, including catering, audio-visual packages, or additional event features via catering and the events team.
* Track sales performance, analyse booking trends, and implement initiatives to optimize revenue.
* Monitor financial performance of enterprise activities, including revenue, gross margins, and labour costs.
* Ensure costs remain within budgeted targets while maintaining service quality.
* Track and report on KPIs, including:
* Event revenue & bookings
* Gross profit mar
* Labour utilization and efficiency
* Customer satisfaction and repeat bookings
* Prepare regular management reports highlighting performance, risks, and opportunities.
* Oversee the events team to ensure the planning, delivery, and operational management of all enterprise activities, including weddings, conferences, and corporate events.
* Ensure operational efficiency, including staffing, set-up, catering, facilities, and compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations.
* Allocate staff resources effectively, including casual or temporary support for events, cleaning, and set-up/tear-down operations via the events and catering team.
* Implement and maintain standard operating procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
* Manage stock, supplies, and equipment for enterprise operations, controlling costs and minimizing waste via the teams.
* Conduct performance reviews, training, and coaching to maintain high standards.
* Promote a culture of excellent customer service and operational excellence.
Experience
* Proven experience in an operations management role or similar position within a relevant industry.
* Strong understanding of operational processes, project management, and performance metrics.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams towards achieving common goals.
* Exceptional problem-solving abilities coupled with strong analytical skills.
* Proficiency in using operational management software and tools is advantageous.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organisation.
* A degree in business administration, management, or a related field is preferred but not essential if experience is substantial.
