Job Overview
A major long-term construction programme is launching in Port Talbot, involving complex, large-scale civil engineering works over the next 3 to 4 years. This multi-disciplinary project, valued at over £200 million, will be delivered under the NEC4 contract and begins with a series of enabling works in Q3 2025.
We are seeking an experienced Package Manager to join our on-site team and lead the coordination and management of key construction packages. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-profile infrastructure project from the ground up, working alongside a talented, collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and coordinate subcontractors across various trades within your assigned work area.
* Liaise regularly with architects, engineers, site teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
* Ensure that project obligations and deliverables are clearly understood and executed in line with NEC4 contractual requirements.
* Conduct weekly site progress meetings with subcontractors, focusing on logistics, programme progress, safety, and quality.
* Report regularly to the Chief Engineer and Project Leadership Team on key project updates.
* Develop and maintain short-term (3-week) look-ahead programmes in collaboration with the project planner.
* Oversee packages related to RC Frame Structures and Envelopes, ensuring all works meet quality standards and construction regulations.
* Support Temporary Works Coordination if experienced or qualified in this area.
Requirements
* Demonstrable experience managing packages on multi-million-pound, multi-disciplinary projects.
* Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a hands-on approach and proactive mindset.
* Proficient in construction software and digital tools; confident in using IT systems to manage and report progress.
* Understanding of construction products, details, building regulations, and quality standards.
* Ability to work effectively in a site-based, team-oriented environment.
* Willingness to travel daily to Port Talbot (local or commutable candidates preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
* Professional membership or working towards accreditation with relevant bodies (e.g., ICE, CIOB, RICS, CIBSE, IStructE).
* Experience acting as a Temporary Works Coordinator is advantageous.
