We are seeking an exceptional and highly organised leader to join our school as CCF School Staff Instructor & DofE Lead. This pivotal role combines administration, logistics, and mentorship, supporting our cadets, CFAVs, and the Contingent Commander, while overseeing the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme.
Job Purpose
The School Staff Instructor (SSI) delivers vital support and administration to their Contingent Commander, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs), and cadets in all Sections, ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient running of the Contingent. The role also encompasses the leadership and management of the school's Duke of Edinburgh Award programme, providing pupils with opportunities for personal development, adventure, and leadership.
The SSI will coordinate both CCF and DofE programmes, combining administration, logistical oversight, training support, and mentoring to ensure both programmes operate safely, efficiently, and successfully.
Key ResponsibilitiesOrganisation & Structures
* Support the Contingent Commander by ensuring all records, audits, and returns are completed promptly.
* Ensure relevant policies, rules, and practices are followed across personnel administration, equipment management, and cadet activity planning and delivery.
People & Administration
* Maintain up-to-date CFAV and cadet records on Cadet MIS, including medical, dietary, and next-of-kin details.
* Monitor CFAV mandatory checks and training; highlight where refresher checks are required.
* Administer induction for new CFAVs and cadets in line with CCF policy.
* Record weekly parade attendance, external activities, courses, and qualifications for all CFAVs and cadets.
* Identify and signpost appropriate courses and activities for CFAV and cadet development.
Logistics, Finance & Medical Support
* Manage and operate Contingent equipment and materiel stores, maintaining accurate registers.
* Control the Contingent Loan Stores account, including issuing/receiving items and liaising with MOD or other cadet units.
* Conduct mandated checks on weapons, ammunition, and pyrotechnics where required.
* Maintain clothing accounts, issue records, and process requests for replacements or repairs.
* Support bookings for accommodation, travel, equipment, and training facilities.
* Assist in managing Contingent Grant and Non-Public Fund accounts and prepare recovery of funds for losses or damages.
* Provide CFAVs and cadets with access to relevant publications, pamphlets, and documents.
Activities, Courses & Training
* Support parade days and other cadet activities by preparing training aids, equipment, and locations.
* Conduct reconnaissance for proposed activities, liaising with relevant support teams.
* Manage events and activities on Cadet MIS, recording attendance and qualifications.
* Support the delivery of the DofE programme, including registration, expedition planning, training, supervision, and assessment.
Security, Communications & Engagement
* Maintain security of all weapons, ammunition, pyrotechnics, kit, equipment, and ICT facilities.
* Act as the Contingent point of contact for all security matters.
* Attend relevant conferences and meetings to support the Contingent Commander and Section Commanders.
* Keep CFAVs and cadets informed of new policies, events, courses, and training opportunities.
General Responsibilities
* Uphold safeguarding, health, and safety policies at all times.
* Support wider co-curricular school activities.
* Undertake additional duties reasonably requested by senior leadership.
* On appointment, SSI becomes a Non-uniformed Volunteer in the Contingent, with the option to become a uniformed CFAV.

Experience & Knowledge
* Experience working with young people in a leadership, training, or youth development environment.
* Experience in administrative coordination, record keeping, and event planning.
* Understanding of safeguarding, health, and safety policies.
* Familiarity with military/cadet forces, adventurous training, or outdoor leadership is highly desirable.
Skills
* Strong organisational, administrative, and logistical skills.
* Leadership and mentoring ability for both CFAVs and cadets.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to prioritise tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
* Proficiency with databases and management information systems (e.g., Cadet MIS).
