Job Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Junior Clinical Fellow in Neonates at The Grange University Hospital (GUH) in Cwmbran, South‑East Wales. The hospital opened in November 2020, providing first‑class facilities.
The Neonatal Unit is a Level 3 NICU with 8 ICU, 10 High Dependency and 12 Special Care cots, catering for 6,500 deliveries and over 1,500 intensive care days annually.
The unit is staffed by 11 full‑time Neonatal Consultants and 1 Associate Specialist providing daytime cover and out‑of‑hours on‑call. The workload follows the European Work‑time Directive and New Deal.
Main Duties
The successful applicant will work on the tier 1 rota covering the neonatal intensive care environment. You will gain wide experience in neonatal medicine including neonatal resuscitation, care of the normal neonate, common post‑natal problems, and all aspects of neonatal intensive care such as ventilation, HFOV, therapeutic hypothermia for HIE, and practical procedures.
The unit offers a robust post‑graduate teaching programme. You are expected to participate in audits, reviews, journal club presentations, X‑ray meetings and teaching. An educational supervisor will be allocated, and personal development encouraged.
