Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
An exciting opportunity to train as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) within the NHS East Riding Talking Therapies Service.
Main duties of the job
* Attend the University of Sheffield to gain a Postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions and receive training in evidence‑based treatments.
* Work therapeutically with patients experiencing mild to moderate depression, anxiety and other common mental health problems.
* Manage a caseload of patients via telephone, face‑to‑face, online, video/webcam, group sessions and online CCBT.
* Conduct routine assessments and provide psychoeducation, signpost to services and make referrals to specialist teams.
* Attend individual and group clinical supervision, caseload management supervision and regular managerial supervision.
* Act as a link worker for the service (if required).
* Attend CPD days, regular business meetings and perform self‑directed study outside working hours.
* Support a diverse population across the East Riding of Yorkshire.
* Begin the role at the end of September 2026 upon successful completion of the interview process.
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Degree level qualification (psychology or other health‑related undergraduate).
* Understanding of how anxiety and depression present in primary care.
* Knowledge of work‑related mental health issues and their impact.
* Appreciation of evidence‑based psychological therapies and their application to this post.
Experience
* Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem.
* High standards in written communication, including clear reports and letters.
* Experience in primary care services with demonstrated clinical outcomes.
* Ability to manage one’s own caseload and time effectively.
Skills and Competencies
* Ability to evaluate and implement training outcomes.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone communication.
* Capability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients.
* Training (formal or experiential) in risk assessment within scope of practice.
