Group finance manager

Leicester
Eaton Syalon Ltd
Finance manager
€75,000 a year
Posted: 1h ago
Offer description

Eaton Syalon is delighted to have been retained to support a Derbyshire-based FTSE listed plc with a rare and exciting opportunity to recruit a high calibre Group Finance Manager (FP&A focused) to join their head office finance function.

This is a newly created role offering significant exposure to the Group CFO, Executive Committee, and Board, placing you at the heart of strategic decision-making within a dynamic and acquisitive international business.

This opportunity is particularly well suited to a second mover from practice (ACA/ACCA), ideally with exposure to group reporting, consolidations, or listed clients, who is now looking to build on their technical foundation and transition into a more commercially focused Group FP&A role.

The role acts as a bridge between Group Reporting and FP&A, offering the chance to develop forward-looking financial planning, modelling, and business partnering skills, while remaining close to consolidated Group performance and reporting.

The Business

This FTSE-listed plc is an established and growing international group operating across the UK, Ireland, and the United States. The organisation has a strong track record of strategic acquisitions and expansion, including multiple high-value transactions in recent years and continued growth in the US market.

As a result, this role offers exposure to complex group structures, integration activity, and high-profile strategic initiatives — making it an excellent environment for someone looking to broaden their experience beyond a traditional reporting role.

Key Responsibilities

* Group Performance Reporting & Insight
o Support and oversee the monthly consolidation of Group results, working closely with the Group Reporting team
o Own key elements of the Group management reporting framework, including Board and Executive Committee packs
o Deliver insightful analysis of actuals vs budget, forecast, and prior year, identifying key drivers, trends, and emerging risks
o Translate consolidated financial data into clear, actionable insight for senior stakeholders
* Group Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
o Play a key role in the development and enhancement of the Group’s budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes
o Support the annual Group budget and reforecast cycles, working closely with divisions to challenge assumptions and improve forecast accuracy
o Ensure alignment between strategy, financial plans, and external market guidance
o Contribute to building a more robust, transparent, and insight-led planning framework across the Group
o Develop detailed scenario and sensitivity analysis, including cashflow modelling and liquidity planning
o Support the delivery of downside, stress, and upside scenarios to inform strategic decision-making
o Contribute to viability statements, going concern assessments, and long-term planning
o Clearly communicate risks, opportunities, and recommended actions to senior stakeholders, including Board-level audiences
* Board, Investor & Market Support
o Support the preparation of Board papers, investor presentations, and Capital Markets Day materials
o Ensure consistency between internal reporting and external messaging
o Partner with Investor Relations to support KPI reporting and forward-looking performance narratives
o Gain exposure to plc-level reporting and external stakeholder communication
* Business Partnering
o Take a leading role in business partnering for central head office cost functions
o Work closely with functional leaders to provide financial insight and support decision‑making
o Challenge cost assumptions and identify opportunities for efficiency and value creation
o Support budgeting and forecasting processes for central functions, ensuring alignment with Group objectives
o Build strong relationships across finance and non‑finance stakeholders
* Systems, Data & Process Improvement
o Support the development and enhancement of Group FP&A systems
o Gain exposure to evaluating future tools such as Anaplan
o Drive improvements in data quality, consistency, and reporting processes
o Support the development of a “single version of the truth” across Group reporting and planning
o Contribute to automation and continuous improvement initiatives
* Leadership
o Manage and develop a small team (2 direct reports)
o Support the development of analytical capability and business partnering skills within the team
o Work closely with Group Reporting and wider finance teams to ensure alignment and collaboration
* Projects
o Support ad‑hoc strategic initiatives, including acquisition analysis, integration activity, and finance transformation projects
o Contribute to the ongoing development of the Group finance function

Experience & Personal Attributes Required

* ACA / ACCA qualified, with a strong preference for those trained in practice
* Ideal for a first or second move from practice, particularly those with exposure to group reporting, consolidations, or listed clients
* Experience within a Group finance, reporting, or FP&A environment in a UK plc or complex international organisation
* Strong technical accounting foundation with the ability to apply this in a commercial context
* Exposure to forecasting, financial modelling, or cashflow analysis (or a strong desire to develop in this area)
* Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability
* Strong communication skills with the ability to present to senior stakeholders
* Commercially curious, with a desire to move beyond reporting into value‑add analysis
* High attention to detail combined with a forward‑looking mindset
* Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
* Collaborative, proactive, and keen to develop

Why Apply?

* A genuine opportunity to transition from practice or a Group reporting role into a commercially focused FP&A position
* Direct exposure to C‑suite and Board‑level decision‑making
* Opportunity to build on technical foundations while developing strategic, forward‑looking finance capability
* Join a high‑growth, acquisitive FTSE‑listed business with complex and interesting structures
* Clear progression pathway into senior FP&A or broader finance leadership roles
* If you are currently in Group reporting role and looking to take the next step into a more commercial, forward‑looking finance position, this opportunity offers a rare and compelling platform to do so.
