As a Software Development Manager in the Identity Team you are the first engineering management role. You impact positively the teams you lead, the people you manage and the products you are responsible for whilst helping build the right culture within your domain. You hire, develop, and retain our Software Development Engineers to set them up for success. You build performing teams that consistently deliver quality software, whilst empowering your engineers to own technical decisions. You work effectively with your stakeholders and product teams to ensure the right outcomes are delivered. You play a key role in formulating the technical strategy and roadmap for your area. You are able to handle high pressure situations and bring technical clarity and problem solving to a mission critical domain, ensuring we maintain high availability for our customers.

Responsibilities
* Lead people management, including hiring, developing, and retaining Software Development Engineers.
* Build and sustain high-performing teams that consistently deliver quality software.
* Define and drive the technical strategy and roadmap for your domain.
* Ensure high availability, resilience, and security of the systems your team builds.
* Guide and empower engineers to own technical decisions while providing necessary guidance.
* Drive continuous improvement across teams, capturing data to improve practices and delivery.
* Manage product releases, proactively identify risks, propose mitigations, and prioritize availability and consistency.
* Build balanced, empathetic relationships with stakeholders and product teams and communicate effectively.
Qualifications
* Experience managing software engineers and supporting their career development and growth.
* Experience leading complex software development programmes.
* Demonstrated experience designing, developing and running highly-scalable distributed systems.
* Able to provide technical leadership & problem solving skills in high pressure situations to ensure system availability.
* Experience implementing a range of design and architecture patterns.
* Experience of technical leadership within a team, coaching, supporting and mentoring those around you.
