At Briggs, we’re looking for an organised, proactive, and people‑focused Office Manager to join our McMillan site. This is a highly varied role that sits at the heart of the business, supporting multiple departments and ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day running of the office.
McMillan Coppersmiths & Fabricators is a specialist engineering and precision manufacturing business with a long‑standing reputation for delivering high‑quality fabrication solutions across complex industrial sectors. As part of the wider Briggs Group, McMillan provides expert coppersmithing, fabrication, machining, and manufacturing services to customers across industries including energy, process engineering, distilling, brewing, pharmaceuticals, and heavy industrial fabrication.
The site operates as a hands‑on engineering and production environment, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern fabrication techniques, CNC capability, welding, assembly, and project‑based manufacturing delivery.

As a key member of the team, you’ll provide guidance, support, and coordination across the business while helping drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance both the office environment and wider site operations.
What you’ll be doing:
Office & Business Administration
* Manage indirect purchase orders for office requirements, including approval processes
* Organise and improve office procedures to ensure efficient daily operations
* Manage schedules, calendars, meetings, and site events
* Support site administration and ad‑hoc project work, including permit control and document filing
* Manage visitors, incoming calls, tannoy announcements, supplier visits, and customer communications
* Ensure all administration tasks are completed accurately and on time
* Produce business reports including HR KPIs, HSE reporting, and daily operational reporting
* Coordinate business travel arrangements including hotels and transport for employees and visitors
* Maintain accurate filing systems and ensure secure document storage
* Oversee office facilities management, housekeeping, and 5S standards
* Liaise with third parties regarding invoice and payment queries
* Support coordination between office functions and manufacturing operations, ensuring smooth communication between production, engineering, fabrication teams, and site leadership
HR Support Responsibilities
* Working closely with the HR team, you’ll provide onsite support for a range of people‑related activities, including:
* Supporting onboarding processes for new employees
* Collecting right‑to‑work documentation
* Submitting payroll information for new starters
* Ensuring completion of onboarding and training requirements
* Coordinating uniforms, IT equipment, and onboarding resources
* Managing annual leave records and reporting trends
* Promoting employee benefits and wellbeing initiatives
* Acting as a key contact for HR queries
* Supporting absence management processes and reporting
* Assisting with recruitment administration and agency coordination
* Supporting visa appointments and documentation requirements
* Taking notes during HR meetings where required
* Supporting workforce coordination in a manufacturing environment, ensuring alignment between HR processes and production/site operational needs
Health & Safety Responsibilities
* You’ll also play an important role in supporting a safe working environment by:
* Supporting HSE incident reporting and investigations
* Collecting relevant evidence when required
* Managing PPE supplies
* Supporting HSE audits and follow‑up actions
* Conducing safety conversations
* Ensuring fire safety equipment remains compliant
* Managing contractor and supplier compliance
* Supporting HSE inductions for visitors and new starters
* Delivering site safety briefings for visitors
* Supporting health & safety compliance within a live fabrication and engineering workshop environment, including coordination with workshop supervisors and site leadership to maintain safe systems of work

* Degree or equivalent professional qualification in Business
* Experience in a manufacturing environment
