Job Summary
We are currently recruiting for Emergency Dispatchers to join our Control Room team at our Emergency Operations Centre in Chelmsford. The successful applicant will be responsible for the deployment of emergency ambulance resources and support the delivery of a high level of clinical quality and the best possible patient care. You will communicate with operational colleagues and teams within the Control Room to ensure the most appropriate emergency ambulance response and help is arranged.
This role will follow a relief rota (further information will be provided at interview).
Responsibilities
* Deploy emergency ambulance resources in accordance with local and national performance targets and call triage categories.
* Communicate with operational colleagues and teams within the Control Room to ensure appropriate response.
* Prioritise and manage workload in a busy, challenging and fast‑paced environment, making quick decisions under pressure.
* Work as part of the wider control room team to maintain clinical quality and patient care.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 2 years experience within a customer‑focused environment, prioritising and managing workload.
* 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (including English) or equivalent qualification.
* IT‑literate and experienced using computerised systems.
* Good communication skills, resilience, professionalism, and ability to work well within teams.
* Knowledge of local geography and awareness of equality and diversity.
* Understanding of Ambulance Service/NHS is advantageous.
Working Hours & Handover
Work a rotating shift pattern covering days and nights, including weekends and public holidays.
