Looking for a school-based role where no two days are the same and you’re genuinely making a difference?
We’re working with a number of secondary schools in Middlesbrough looking for confident Cover Supervisors to step in and keep learning on track when teachers are away. This is a great opportunity if you enjoy working with young people, value variety in your week, and want hands-on experience in a secondary school setting.
You’ll be delivering pre-set work, supporting pupils in the classroom, and helping maintain a calm, positive learning environment. No planning, no marking—just strong classroom presence and clear communication.
What you’ll be doing:
* Supervising classes during short-term teacher absences
* Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials
* Keeping students engaged, focused, and on task
* Managing classroom behaviour confidently and fairly
* Supporting the wider school team as needed
Who this role is ideal for:
* Graduates considering a career in teaching
* Experienced Cover Supervisors or Teaching Assistants
* Individuals with youth work, coaching, or mentoring experience
* Confident communicators who can lead a classroom

* Experience working with young people (school-based or similar)
* Strong behaviour management skills and calm authority
* Flexibility and a positive, professional attitude
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
