Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established planning consultancy in their search for a Senior Planner to join their Planning Team in Ashby. There is also the option to collaborate with colleagues in Market Harborough, Birmingham, or Manchester.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planner to take a leading role on innovative energy and infrastructure projects across sectors such as water, gas, electricity, and more. You will work closely with colleagues across the firm to deliver planning consultancy services and help build the Planning Team's expertise and capability.
THE ROLE
As a Senior Planner, you will manage and prioritise your own caseload, delivering high-quality advice and planning applications to clients. You will also mentor junior team members, including supporting them through the APC process, and take responsibility for coordinating multidisciplinary project teams. This role involves:
Undertaking site appraisals and pre-application advice requests
Preparing, submitting, and managing planning applications
Delivering bespoke advice to clients
Project managing architects, landscape, highways, drainage, and ecology consultants
Engaging with clients, Planning Officers, Councillors, statutory bodies, and members of the public
Attending and leading project meetings, including negotiation to achieve optimum outcomes
Supporting colleagues with workload management and shared projects
Managing budgets, time recording, and invoicingWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Fully RTPI accredited, ideally Chartered (MRTPI)
Significant experience within a planning consultancy or local authority
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and organisational ability
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
