Were working with a leading technology powerhouse seeking a Firmware Architect to join their team onsite in Belfast. Whether youre already local or elsewhere in the UK, a relocation package is available for the right candidate.

This isn't about churning out VHDL code. You'll be the technical authority, trusted to architect complex FPGA-based systems and guide the direction of development from concept to deployment. You'll work alongside a talented internal firmware team who'll rely on your architectural vision and leadership.
This is a high-trust, high-impact role -ideal for someone who wants ownership, influence, and progression into technical leadership or principal engineering roles.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the architecture and high-level design of advanced FPGA systems
Translate top-level requirements into scalable, modular firmware architectures
Work onsite in Belfast to interface directly with systems engineers, hardware leads, and customers
Guide and support a team of firmware developers across implementation and verification
Own design decisions, risk assessments, and review processes
Shape firmware strategy and promote reusability, efficiency, and quality
Collaborate across disciplines to ensure cohesive system delivery

What You'll Bring
5+ years in firmware/FPGA design, with experience in architecture or technical leadership
Deep knowledge of VHDL/SystemVerilog, high-speed digital design, and simulation
Comfortable capturing and refining requirements from stakeholders
Experience in defence, aerospace, or safety-critical embedded systems preferred
Eligibility for UK Security Clearance is essential
