Solicitor – Inquest Work
We are looking to recruit an experienced Solicitor who is seeking to develop their inquest work alongside fantastic leadership, supervisory and service development opportunities. The Solicitor will act for and on behalf of Cardiff and Vale UHB in the management of Inquest proceedings and related requests from the Coroner. The Solicitor will investigate factual circumstances of cases and advise on the management of Inquest proceedings. The Solicitor will have the opportunity to attend inquests, advocate on behalf of Cardiff and Vale UHB and, where appropriate, liaise with the Coroner.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
The post-holder will work with the Inquest Team, clinicians and data systems, as well as direct work with the Coroner. The Solicitor will be responsible for leading legally on the delivery of the service, supervision, training, and creating meaningful and impactful change. This post will sit alongside the Head of Inquests and the Assistant Director of Patient Experience and will provide the team with legal advice and guidance to work within Cardiff and Vale UHB. The post holder will lead on service development alongside the leads, build strong partnerships with other leaders in the wider team of Cardiff and Vale UHB, and beyond. Close working relationships will exist between this post and the Head of Inquests.
