We are seeking a Marine engineer / boat builder to join our team at Arksen, a company dedicated to building exceptionally capable and sustainable vessels for exploration and research. This is a foundational role where you will support the construction and outfitting of our class-leading explorer yachts and adventure vessels. Overview
Key Experience Required
* Engine Systems: Installation of both inboard and outboard engines.
* Boatbuilding Skills – general fit-out, structural work, and precise use of hand and power tools.
* General Boatbuilding – understanding layouts, working from drawings, and ensuring precision across all build stages.
* Electrical Systems: Working proficiently with both 12V and 240V marine electrical systems, including wiring, fault-finding, and installation of ancillary systems.
* Dash Components: Installation and integration of complex dash-mounted components (e.g., navigation equipment, gauges, switches).
Responsibilities
* Install, test, and commission inboard and outboard engines, ancillary systems, and dash components.
* Work collaboratively within a small team to manage project timelines and meet tight deadlines.
* Adhere strictly to COSHH guidelines when working with construction components and chemicals.
* Maintain a meticulous approach to quality control with a keen eye for detail across all work.
* Competently use both hand and power tools for precise installation and fabrication.

* Must be competent with and own conventional hand tools.
* Strong problem-solving ability and practical aptitude.
* Keen eye for detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Proven experience in the marine industry.
* 25 days annual leave plus eight statutory bank holidays.
* 5% company pension contribution after probationary period.
* Term: Permanent, full-time position. 6-month probationary period.
