Hours: 35 hours per week, fixed term until 31 March

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced individual to join the Sustainable Housing on Release for Everyone (SHORE) team within Central Homelessness Team.
Do you have experience of working in a housing related environment?
As a Housing Officer you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of housing services to our customers, you should therefore have experience of working within a housing related environment and have an understanding of current issues and legislation in relation to homelessness, allocations, estate management, rent recovery and dealing with anti- social behaviour.
Do you have experience of working in a prison or criminal justice environment?
This post will be involved in providing face to face housing options advice to prisoners within HMP Barlinnie and HMP Addiewell, ensuring tenancy sustainment where possible or developing housing plans to prevent homelessness. The Housing Officer will require to undertake training within the prison establishments which includes personal protection training. The Housing Officer role in this situation is to provide housing options advice and assistance and plan for positive housing outcomes for the households they are working with.
Do you have experience of working with policies and procedures?
You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with policy and procedures, there is considerable monitoring and auditing of casework of service delivery. Furthermore, the Housing Officer has responsibility to take and process any complaints received according to procedure and standards.
Do you have excellent IT skills and are you organised and able to prioritise your workload?
The post requires excellent IT skills along with the ability to organise and prioritise your workload in an effective way. The ability to be flexible and to be able to respond and adapt to changing priorities is required in delivering a quality service.
Are you a good communicator?
This is a developing role and will require an individual with excellent communication skills and ability to network with key partners. There may be a number of prison establishments that you will be required to engage with both in person and be telephone. It is therefore important for this role that you possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to liaise effectively with a variety of service users, other public bodies and third sector agencies.
