We are looking for Class 1 Welders to join our team at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth. This is a great opportunity to work on exciting submarine engineering projects. Job Description: Apply Manual Metal Arc (MMA) welding to a variety of heavy-duty marine and structural components Work on submarines, surface ships, dockside infrastructure, and controlled factory environments Operate welding and some fabrication equipment to consistently high standards Read and interpret complex engineering drawings from a welding perspective, procedures, and technical specifications Work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to meet tight safety and performance targets What you'll need: Strong capability in MMA/Stick welding on heavy plate, structural steel, or marine-grade materials Experience working in shipbuilding, ship repair, infrastructure, or large-scale construction environments Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions Confident use of welding sets, fabrication tools, and general workshop equipment Marine engineering background or experience on Royal Navy or commercial vessels - Desirable Time-served trade apprenticeship in welding, fabrication, marine, or naval engineering - Desirable Indentured Apprenticeship relevant to welding - Desirable Level 3 Engineering or Modern Apprenticeship - Desirable Level 2 Engineering qualification supported by significant practical experience - Desirable A drive to own and shape your career development journey.
