Discover more about the Hourglass brand story and mission on our website hourglasscosmetics.com The Sr. Design Manager, Visual Merchandising & Store Design (VM/SD) will play a critical role in the design development, management and execution of in-store architecture and visual merchandising displays across multiple retail formats. Will work closely with global design team, regional partners and external vendors to ensure store designs and strategic merchandising initiatives are executed on time, on budget and uphold the Hourglass luxury aesthetic. This position will create architectural designs for new store openings that uphold global standards and manage process with local vendors from design development to final installation. Will work with global team to help develop typical architectural design and fixture standards and ensure seamless integration of product display concepts within the architectural footprint. As we continue to expand, the Sr. Design Manager will have an integral role in enforcing global design guidelines across retail formats. This is an exciting opportunity to join our global team as we enter our next chapter of growth and continue to evolve and elevate our unique physical brand expression. WHAT YOU DO: Design and develop new stores and secondary formats based on global standards. Create 3D design renderings for review and approval by global HQ. Collaborate closely with global design team on new, strategic store design and visual merchandising initiatives. Present and clarify complex aspects of store design to global HQ with the goal of shared understanding and solid alignment. Accountable for analyzing project briefs. Work closely with cross functional teams to clarify critical project information and ensure commercial goals and brand design objectives are clear. Develop designs and manage review and approval process with global HQ for on-time retailer design submission. Evaluate retailer design feedback and present solutions that meet requirements while upholding brand design integrity. Locally develop and manage physical prototypes and material specifications for executive review and approval. Own development and execution of local projects. Review vendor technical drawings, construction documents and manage the prototype approval process for final production sign-off. Must be familiar with and capable of redlining technical drawings and DD sets, fabrication and architectural detailing and final punch lists. Work closely with VM/SD Operations team to maintain project timelines and budgets. When necessary, identify cost-saving measures while upholding project design integrity. Ensure product display and artwork requirements are clearly communicated for new store openings. Oversee new installations as required to ensure best in class execution. Conduct post-install reviews with global design lead. Conduct regular visits to local flagship doors to ensure brand design and merchandising standards are upheld. Submit regular photo reports to global HQ. Communicate design issues as required to maintain and protect brand presentation. Maintain database of current store drawings and renderings Work with global design team to develop visual merchandising concepts for luxury SIS and FSS. Ensure cohesive approach to visual merchandising initiatives within the store design concept. Identify future opportunities to elevate the brand presentation and customer journey. Work with global design team to contribute and evolve standard fixture details and material specifications. Support secondary merchandising initiatives, pop-ups and events as needed. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 5 years’ experience in architectural Store Design and Visual Merchandising-related field (Beauty Industry a plus) Proven experience managing the design development, review, approval and execution process with internal and external stakeholders and industry trades. Must be familiar with and capable of redlining vendor technical drawings, DD sets, fixture contractor millwork drawings and construction document sets. Proven experience designing within planned budgets and developing value engineered solutions. Must be proficient in Microsoft, Sketchup, Photoshop, Powerpoint, Excel and Smartsheet. Must be proficient in 3D rendering program (V-Ray, Keyshot, Enscape, etc). Must be highly organized and have strong attention to detail. Adaptable, resourceful and forward thinking. Thrive on solving problems and looking at implementing creative solutions. Creative, positive and high-energy individual with an ability to execute. Strong Verbal and Written communication abilities.
