Maintenance Assistant - Full Time - Fixed Term
Dakota Hotel, South Queensferry, is seeking a hard-working and skilled individual with an aptitude for general DIY tasks for the role of Maintenance Assistant on a Fixed Term Basis.
Contract and pay rate
* Hourly rate: £13.50 per hour, paid weekly
* Estimated gross annual salary: £28,080
* Hours: a minimum of 40 hours per week, working any 5 days out of 7, including weekends
* Term: 3-month fixed term contract from 1 November 2025 to 31 January 2026 (inclusive)
Primary role responsibilities
* Carry out a broad range of maintenance tasks in accordance with your skillset and participate in activities such as installing, maintaining, decorating, light plumbing, tiling, light joinery, PAT testing, grouting and silicone work.
* Action schedules to ensure the fabric of the building is well-maintained and compliant with applicable legislation, completing necessary checks and records.
* Ensure tasks, requests and project work are completed to high finishing standards and within agreed timescales.
* Keep planned maintenance and project schedules up to date.
* Work closely with the Maintenance and Housekeeping Manager to maintain company standards in guest bedrooms, public areas, and to carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance of the building and grounds.

Applicant requirements
* At least two years’ experience in a maintenance-based role with the ability to carry out varied maintenance tasks; experience in trades such as tiling, plastering, plumbing, etc., is welcome.
* Fully computer literate.
* Experience in accommodation-based commercial environments (hotels, new-build housing, or rented accommodation) is strongly preferred.
* Keen attention to detail and high standards of finishing.
* Ability to work at pace with minimal supervision.
* Good understanding of health and safety protocols.
* Proficient in general maintenance tasks with broad understanding.
* Proactive, with a positive attitude and pace.
* Strong work ethic, culture of positivity, and pride in workmanship.
* Flexible with shift patterns and available to meet business needs.
* Demonstrated interest in Dakota brand and desire to be part of the team.
