Venue Director, Pocklington Arts Centre,
Location: Pocklington Arts Centre, 22-24 Market Place, Pocklington, YO42 2AR
Pocklington Arts Centre has just celebrated its first 25 years as the hub of the local community and has benefited from strong leadership throughout. It was launched in February 2000 following an intensive period of fundraising to support the funds provided by Pocklington Town Council to purchase and refurbish the former Ritz cinema. The Arts Centre offers a diverse and varied programme of events including Film, Live Broadcasts, Music, Theatre, Comedy, Dance, Lectures, Workshops and Exhibitions. It also provides conference facilities and hire opportunities for businesses and is used regularly by local charities and community groups. Pocklington Arts Centre operates as not for profit organisation and enjoys its own artistic independence
Job Requirements
Pocklington Town Council are seeking an experienced and inspirational leader to provide strategic, artistic, organisational and financial leadership for the ongoing sustainability and relevance of Pocklington Arts Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic creative vision, networking/advocacy and funding generation of the Arts Centre. They will work alongside our Venue Manager to identify a diverse mix of artistic programming and to develop opportunities for creative community enrichment. The Director will be responsible for the development of relationships with other organisations and Funders - representing Pocklington Arts Centre both regionally and nationally. Nurturing the development of new work across a variety of genres including visual arts, classical music and dance they will continue to drive Pocklington Arts Centre Productions and other potential income streams and direct the work of the Pocklington Arts Centre team. Job Responsibilities
Your Background:
* Proven leadership experience at senior level in an arts organisation.
* Proven ability to create and communicate organisational vision and strategy.
* Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and audits.
* Strong track record in artistic curation and understanding of artistic processes.
* Experience of developing and nurturing artistic talent.
* Strong track record for stakeholder management.
* Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage teams.
* Experience of maximizing and developing commercial revenue.
* Exceptional communication skills with evidenced experience of delivering considered change.
* Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work independently on multiple projects.
Permanent Salary: SCP 32 - £42,839.00 full time (option for 4 day week)
Post is eligible for 33 days annual leave rising to 36 after five years' service. Pocklington Town Council offer 10% salary pension contribution and death in service benef
