Department The School for Business and Society is one of the largest academic units at the University of York. Housed in the Church Lane Building, this innovative merger between the York Management School and the Social Policy and Social Work Department brings together almost 300 academic and professional support staff. Working under the line management of the Admin Coordinator, you would provide a responsive, proactive and high-quality administrative service, across a range of tasks and activities within the School. As a busy and varied role, you will work closely with a variety of stakeholders across SBS and the University. You will be expected to provide a high level of customer service at all times, with a friendly, approachable, ‘can-do’ attitude. You must be able to work flexibly and accurately, under pressure and to tight deadlines - both independently and as part of the team. As a flexible role, you may be required to support colleagues within the team during periods of high activity or staff absence. The role is offered on a part-time, fixed term basis for 12 months. Role Transactional HR activities including recruitment, induction, contract changes, absence monitoring, leavers, casual workers etc for the School. Liaising with appropriate staff both within the School and central HR when required. Transactional finance activities, such as processing expense claims, raising purchase orders etc in line with process and policy. Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders, answering queries and resolving problems timely. Work collaboratively with various stakeholders across SBS and the University, such as central HR and Finance. Contribute to the ongoing improvement and development of SBS/University processes and systems, to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Work proactively as part of a team, providing support in times of high workload and/or staff absence. Skills, Experience & Qualification needed Level 2 qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
